The Pre-School

In the pre-school years i.e. Nursery, Junior and Senior K.G., the pre-school curriculum is the total of all activities both formal and informal, which take place inside and outside the classroom.

Emphasis is placed on communication skills, numerical skills, music, physical education, cultural development, keeping universal values as the base.

Gradual initiation of the child to English Language takes place keeping in mind the emphasis on the child’s mother tongue.

PLAY is the keystone to learning in the pre-primary school. Lessons are learnt from free activity, which allows children to interpret life from personal experiences. Play combines attention with relaxation, purpose with independence and rules with freedom. The ambience in the classrooms is that of a wonderland. The atmosphere is one of freedom, play and joy through song and movement. Organised activities intend to exercise the child’s senses, limbs, and muscles and familiarize him with the environment. ‘Playthings’ are used to train the senses of sight and touch, to give the pupil an idea of size and surface and to present a correct idea of number. The ‘prepared environment’ in the pre-school offers activities where the children construct themselves with intrinsic pleasure and satisfaction.

The Primary School

In the primary classes (Std. I to V), 'Direct Experience' is the basis for all learning. Spontaneous activities of children provide the natural condition for the growth of knowledge. ‘Learning by doing’ approach based on the child’s needs and interests paves the way for the project method of teaching.

The curriculum in the primary school is organized according to the fourfold interests of the child in conversation, inquiry, construction and artistic expression. The curriculum is used to develop critical discrimination and reasoning ability in children in the mathematics laboratory. The focus on the child’s counting and reckoning skills leads to the development of primary mathematics. The importance of sound, form and number in each area of experience is emphasized, giving the child the opportunity to learn the foundational aspects of all subjects.

All the qualities of an intelligent citizen of a democracy, like initiative, independence and resourcefulness are developed in children. Importance is given to observation thus preparing the way for the development of a scientific temper. The child is introduced to the great world of reality, spontaneously and joyfully. Periodic field trips to nature parks, conservation centers and eco friendly destinations help to develop skills and values of love, concern and preservation of the flora, fauna and natural resources. Outbound education starts from Class III. Dance and music form an integral part of the curriculum in primary school education.

The Secondary School

Education in the secondary school aims at stimulating the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical faculties of children. Facts of history, geography and environmental education are studied first-hand from direct sources as far as possible. The distribution of the curriculum is not isolated into branches of knowledge but an inter-disciplinary approach is adopted, thus presenting the subjects in a synthesized fashion. In the middle school (Std VI to VIII), teachers have a regular say in curriculum design and selection of textbooks that offer creative educative experiences. ‘Graded learning’ provides experiences to the pupils in proportion to their strengths, needs and interests. Pupils are prepared for observations in the external environment and given specific techniques, experiments and other creative activities. ‘Project Work’ supplements the theoretical acquisition of knowledge, understanding and application in every subject area.

The pupils of Stds.IX and X are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination conducted by the Council for the Indian Schools Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. We have achieved cent-percent results over the years.
